Location: Wheatland County
Montana
Type: Olivine Bronzite Chondrite H6
Twodot Montana Stone H6, Olivine-bronzite chondrite Stone Meteorite This stone was found in October 1999, by a hunter who recognized it as special and different while scouting for elk. He kept it in his yard thinking, but not knowing, that it might be a meteorite. Two years past before he came upon a "meteorite wanted" poster that led him to Marlin Cilz who easily identified this oriented stone as Montana's first stone meteorite. It is somewhat weathered but still shows a good amount of metal in a mottled brown matrix. A total of 21.5 kilograms was recovered.
