Name: Dalgety Downs
Location: Gascoyne District
Western Australia

Type: Olivine Hypersthene Chondrite, L-4

Dalgety Downs fell to Earth a long time ago. We know this because
the exterior is highly weathered. However, the light grey interior
exhibits a wealth of chondrules and metal flake. In 1941, a mass,
broken into fragments totaling 214 kilograms was recovered about six
miles south of Dalgety Downs. In 1963 further masses to a total weight
of 1.8 kilograms were found by B. Mason and E.P. Henderson. A mass of
1.8 kilograms said to have come from Ashburton Downs is part of the same
fall. Another recovery of numerous fragments of about 40.9 kilograms was
made in 1964 by W.H. Cleverly, these are mow in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia
School of Mines. A total of 473 kilograms of this meteorite was recovered.

Never published in the Meteoritical Society Bulletins but some information is available.
